one less weirdo

I am a writer, although I've never taken a writing class... my teacher's first and foremost God is my writing teacher, He gave me the gift and He has given me word after word after word. All my "natural ability" is just what God has instilled in me. My other teachers were the songwriters I grew up listening to, and authors whose books I read. Authors like Shakespeare, Poe, Stephen King, Karen Kingsbury and Anne Rice to name some of my favorites. The song writers Garth Brooks, Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, etc. but one of those writers was Prince, and because he was a songwriter that I learned from, I am not just a "fan"... I'm a student, as is any artist who has influences from other artists. There are so many people out there that are different, and about 90% of them are artists of some sort. Prince has often been known as being "weird", more so than most other musicians. The music he wrote didn't have a genre nor a time limit. And...

a message to the worst

I'm not even about to explain any of this, so don't even ask. I just wrote my feelings and this came out   you don't have the first clue how to love there is not a piece of you that's selfless and every time I'm forced to remember you I get sick, uneasy and restless I know what love is in fact I'm probably in love now  and I'd take a bullet of any kind to keep him safe somehow Isn't that the one that was the aim of your stones that you tried to throw and then I begged and pleaded  for you to let me take the blow not so fun is it now that you're  at the bottom with those rocks  but your chains could never hold  someone who knows she always held the locks don't even try to tell me that you're sorry I already know you much too well I'm too strong to let you break me  and your lies came straight from...  hello here's your wake up call  you never were the best  everything yo...

music piracy... is stealing more than just music, it's stealing hopes and dreams

I cried watching "empire"... yea... Terrence Howard's character says: "I started selling drugs when I was 9 years old, in philadelphia, I did it to feed myself. But it was the music that played in my head that kept me alive when I thought I was going to get shot. And it was the melodies I dreamt about that kept me warm when I was sleeping in the streets...you see? music saved my life. Times have changed though, the internet has destroyed the musicians ability to make money, because our work, is downloaded for free online. Now it's impossible for the disenfranchised kids growing up in the projects to overcome poverty the way that I did" I wanted to stand up and cheer, but people would look at me weird... set there, turn that over in your mind... sure getting free music might not hurt those super famous, already signed and set "rock/rap/pop stars" you see on tv.., the ones with mansions, the ones you think represent musicians all across the boa...

just pouring out some feelings for no reason lol

I feel so embarrassed about things I used to be ignorant about sometimes, like how I used to think Lars Ulrich was a jerk lol no, but seriously, I used to like listen to the media and it's weird that they never came out and said "he's wrong" but they implied it so heavily that it just like influenced my opinion... but NOW that I am no longer ignorant to like what that's all about, I'm like you know what, he was right all along and it's not about "not sharing art" any artist that's a real artist would love to just have enough money to live on, and survive, and if they had that, and were set, they would love to just give away their art... I promise, even him... but these people (though the ones whose name you know are probably rich) like 95% of artist in the world's population can't make a dime because people think this way... "art is meant to be shared" which is absolutely true but like you want and expect these people to s...

people having an emotional response to Art (specifically tv & movies) is good for society

Let's start this off by me explaining what triggered my writing this. A lot of the time I tend to talk about tv shows in a different way than most people, this is because I think differently than most people and therefore, watch things differently. Some things are mindless fluff, of course, but mainly I watch things with about a million things going through my mind at once. The psychology behind the character's behavior, memories of past behaviors of said character, relationships between characters, what they are feeling at any given moment, people they remind me of in real life, and is this an example of something that could influence my christian life, or how christianity is viewed in general. And that's just to name a few... Part of this comes from the fact that I am a writer, but that's not to say I do it on purpose to learn about writing. It's just that being a writer and having a "writer's brain" is what causes this. I made no decision to be...

you don't know me, if you don't listen

I just had an epiphany, like I am crying about "the breakup" and it didn't hit me fully until yesterday when I saw he was still wearing his ring... and I'm really sad for him, and I felt crazy for a minute because other people say it's weird or crazy to care about anyone famous because you don't know them... then I started thinking about it.... 90% of the people I know in real life, generally share nothing personal with me. Most, if not all the time, people gossip, talk about  the weather, talk about current events, or anything besides how they truly feel about things. Deep, personal insecurities never come up ... and some songwriters (I know from experience) put themselves into songs, they pour their hearts out when they write, and these 2 people might be the 2 songwriters that do that the MOST, they both just wear their hearts on their sleeves in their writing, so it might seem crazy to most but I probably do know more about their personality than I do about...

"Game over, Charles" fanfic rewritten finale

Because, well I just had to....  Game on Marlene... lol

Open letter to Marlene King (& co.)

As I was watching the TCA's last night I thought, this is amazing. PLL has won almost every award they have been nominated for, for the past 5 years. Us fans are so dedicated, but also it's a good show. I'm not sure many people realize this but the way PLL is written and shot, is not like other shows, it's different. It has a classic story feel to it, it takes me back to a time when the people who made tv and movies thought about every little detail, every word, every facial expression. It never followed the typical tv-mystery formula.  I started to watch eye candy and it was pretty good but I stopped because it made me want to delete facebook. Later I found out they revealed their version of "-a" and it was the worst possible choice, I thought "PLL would never go with someone that obvious" I hoped the show would pick someone that makes sense with every detail, that this has to have been planned from day 1. I thought that PLL wouldn't give in t...

art influences everyone

I get really frustrated when people tell me things like "it's just a song/tv show/book/etc." or "you care too much about that" or "you're obsessed" ... for one thing, I'm not sure what most people do, I do know most of the time people are consuming some sort of art (mostly tv) and they think if they don't care much and just watch it casually that it isn't affecting them, which isn't true... I guess I'll use a metaphor, when you consume art in a casual manner you become a mirror for those things being portrayed, you aren't aware or doing it on purpose, but over time, what you see or hear does start being reflected... when you do care about the content and contexts, and analyze what you consume (like I do) you are more like a microscope, you will take what you see or hear and analyze every aspect... (should this character have done this? is this realistic? am I like this person? should I be nicer? what does this song mean? is ...

Alison Dilaurentis

Image
Okay I have to talk about this some more, because I just can't stand it. Look, it's alright if you don't like Alison, everyone has a right to their opinions, plus Ali has done some awful things. All I'm asking is for people to step back and ask themselves why they hate Alison. Did you ever ask yourself? At first I wasn't even sure this that this is a feminist thing, because people don't hate Mona the way they hate Alison and Mona is also a girl. Then I thought about it and I thought; okay so maybe it's sort of a feminist thing after all. Let's compare Mona and Alison for a minute. At a very young age both of these girls realized what most girls don't realize until they are in their 20's. Some don't ever realize it at all. At around 13 years old Mona and Alison not only realized that women and girls are treated unfairly and judged based on what they can do for men, they both mastered manipulating this fact as if it were a game of Mario. No ma...

PLL; the real "dollhouse", plus a social commentary

Image
I'm someone that loves to find the deeper meaning in things, and I usually can catch on pretty quickly. What I didn't realize until Heather Hogan pointed it out in a recap was that on "pretty little liars" there is something going on. I posted what she said on my facebook and I'll summarize it, the dollhouse was doing to the girls, what rosewood had already been doing to them, and what in real life, our life, society does to us. A lot of the subtle commentaries I picked up on, because it's not that hard. In season 1 we get that even the best of mom's (ashley marin) says to her daughter "you CAN'T mess up... in this town, what people think of you matters" that sets the stage for the entire show. I love Ashley but she sleeps with a cop so he will drop shoplifting charges against hanna, setting the example that it doesn't matter if you actually do the right thing. It only matters if people don't find out about your mistakes. People say t...

Old Thurm

A few months ago, when the electric was out, I still had battery on my laptop and nothing to do. I tried to write more of the mystery short story I have been working on, but I couldn't. I knew I had something to write, so I just started writing and this is what came out. I don't know if this is it, but I ended it with room to add more stories about him, true stories. If anyone wants to send me a private message of something he did that could fit in with this, please do and we will see what happens.          "There was a man, he was very unique, just about everything he did  wasn't  considered normal. Yet, everyone he had met liked him, and called him a great man. That man was my grandpa. He grew up in the country, and was born with slight hearing loss. But he worked hard his entire life, and went to school until the sixth grade. School was harder for him than most because of his hearing issues. But that was okay because he liked ...

Breakfast at Tiffany's

there are 2 common interpretations of holly golightly. Men tend to think of her as a "gold-digging social climber" who is mean to the poor guys that buy her things.  And then females tend to see her beauty and cute outfits and admire her for her independence, and laugh because she is a "cool man-eater". They like the character as a trend, as a way to seem glamorous in their own taste in literature or movies.  After watching it myself, I'd have to say that neither of these are correct at all. These reviews, and general opinions, were the reason I didn't want to watch it to begin with. I should have just ignored those because they are inaccurate.  I cried for half of the movie, because she was a broken girl, and a survivor. Yet, she was unable to let herself love truly until she had nothing to lose. She is a very realistic character and very complex but likable in my opinion, she didn't simply love glamour and money, she wanted an interesting life and t...

Talented and strong females

Image
Not feeling like thinking today, so I'm taking a break from the female musician series this week. Instead I am just going to post some random, cool videos in this blog, some from PLL and some about PLL, and some other cool songs. I'll be keeping the focus on talented females though. this scene was epic, it was so well edited and the intensity behind what's going on is well portrayed by this. found this one too.  it's very heartbreaking this makes me feel sad for Jason and Alison... this one just makes me feel bad for ali, but also it makes me admire her. alison is so misunderstood. this is a great song, set to clips from "one night with the king" a movie about queen Esther  random song I love  I love this movie, it's one of my favorites. Even though it's one of the saddest I've ever seen there is truth in it. Truth and good always wins in the end. The truth will eventually be revealed and love, true and re...

great covers

Image
as a person who writes, I have conflicting opinions about covers. Some people say that people who do covers just can't write themselves, that isn't necessarily true. For one, it takes more time to write a song than to sing one that already exists. Another thing is that a lot of people we hear on the radio aren't singing songs that they wrote to begin with. While I agree that a full "cover band" or artist is not something I enjoy, some of the time there is a legitimate reason for a cover. If someone isn't successful yet and they want people to listen to them, they do covers because whether the "public" realizes it or not, they like listening to things they already know. People naturally just tend to like things that are familiar to them, it's rare for someone to prefer new songs consistently. I mean, every song is new at some point but they tend to hear it on the radio and each time they listen, it reaches a new level of "knowing" the so...

Songs that have changed my life

Image
As a christian, I think about art, I think about the fact that almost everyone in the world can sing, some better than others but literally everyone has the natural ability to sing instead of talk, without anyone even explaining how, or what it feels like... we are born with the ability to know melody and rhythm, a lot of people say they are tone deaf that aren't. Only a very small amount of people are actually tone deaf, it just means you can't differentiate tones, if you can hear yourself singing off key, you are not tone deaf. Anyway, we start out learning by learning the abc's in song form, we remember things in a rhythm better than just in a spoken list. We were built this way for a reason. God had a reason for music and singing, it's to praise Him, and it's a gift we all get to enjoy. One of the first things in the Bible was God creating the earth, being creative is a trait we get from God, since we are made in His likeness. So it really confuses me that peop...
